TONTOTON offers an opportunity for communities to take charge of keeping a plastic waste-free environment while earning a livelihood, by creating a new market .
In Sihanouk, the only port city in the southwest of Cambodia, communities are drowning in plastic wastes and nobody could offer a sustainable solution to even start with the clean-up. This sight has become embedded in the threads of daily lives of these communities. TONTOTON finds an opportunity here, An opportunity for these communities to take charge towards a pollution-free life while earning extra cash in exchange of their trash. Starting with establishing collection centers, local waste-pickers, the households, up to the regular man-on-the street can collect and sell their plastic wastes to us. This daily clean-up together with community information, education, and communication (IEC), will raise awareness and engagement among the local government, private businesses, and the constituents.
