Thanks to the Royal Government of Cambodia, partners and all volunteers for ongoing supports. Official World Cleanup Day event was first organized in Cambodia in 2018 brought together ๐ over 330,000 volunteers from all sectors across the country, include government officials from Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information, European Union Delegation to Cambodia, Australia Ambassador, Swedish Ambassador, UN agencies, private companies, youth networks and students including beloved elephants ๐๐, dogs ๐ and hoses๐. World Cleanup Day 2019, over 800,000 volunteers took part in the event, puts Cambodia among the award-winning counties that hit 5% of total population. Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Cambodia stands strong with international community, Letโs Do It! World, with strong support from the Royal Government of Cambodia, World Cleanup Day was successfully and safely organized nationwide.
Over the past 3 years, through World Cleanup Day efforts, with over 1 million volunteers, have removed over 700 tons of mixed wastes (60% plastic) from nature including rivers and ocean.
Cambodian is hungry to see the real beauty of a Waste-Free Cambodia. Given the severity of climate change, the heavy heats, storms, floods, droughts you named it, the science findings make World Cleanup Day 2021 onward even more critical. Cambodia through River Ocean Cleanup with Royal Government of Cambodia and partners continue to stand strong with global networks and forces through ACTIONS to bring real positive change for the planet!
