The beautiful trails and coast are a part of who we are as Canadians. It binds us together, no matter where we live. Sadly, too much trash is choking our environment. More than eight million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean annually. And while no silver bullet exists, CLEANUP FOR GOOD in partnership with Let's Do It Foundation, and a group of passionate volunteers, lead the world's largest volunteer effort to keep the beaches, trails, and ocean free of trash on World Cleanup Day.

Help us continue this tradition and connect your company or self indelibly to the best assets of Canada by joining the annual World Cleanup Day event (18 September 2021 – 3rd Saturday of September). World Cleanup Day is a cause and an event that Canadians identify with and love, one that raises awareness about environmental health and keeps our beaches and trails clean.

The volunteers' simple actions ensure that millions of items of trash, primarily plastics, do not reach the ocean where they would otherwise threaten marine wildlife, ocean habitats, and the people and communities that depend on a healthy and thriving ocean.

Together with our global charity partners, Let’s Do It Foundation, CLEANUP FOR GOOD empowers citizen scientists of any age and from any walk of life to make a difference. These passionate individuals don’t just keep harmful plastics from entering the ocean; they tally every item of trash they find on the mobile data app, Clean Swell if so desired.

This vital information contributes to the world’s largest database on ocean plastics and debris, which inspires and informs durable policies and solutions up and down the pollution pipeline. The global snapshot of the most persistent items of ocean trash is published annually in our Ocean Trash Index, which is routinely cited by the media, the public, and decision-makers alike.

Perhaps most exciting, you’ll have the opportunity to mobilize your employees in an environmental ethic that starts locally, yet unites with others across the globe to effect significant and positive change for the health of our ocean and waterways. And with our mobile app, Clean Swell, we can instantaneously track the collective cleanup impact of your global employee base.

World Cleanup Day is organized by CLEANUP FOR GOOD in Canada, in partnership with a network of like-minded local and global organizations and committed volunteers. While we coordinate the event, the Cleanup is not a government-funded event. Instead, we rely on donations and sponsorship to make the event successful.

Involvement in WORLD CLEANUP DAY CANADA provides a way for individuals, companies, and organizations to contribute to a cleaner, healthier Canada.
