How time flies and already it is the 5th World Cleanup Day in Germany.

We look back on an absolute success story in the last few years. Starting from 20,000 participants in 2018, we expect 400,000 participants in Germany this year. Our school project has literally exploded from 2,400 students in 2021 to over 25,000 students in 2022. Municipalities are also an important element in the success of World Cleanup Day in Germany and we will also see massive growth in this pillar in 2022. We expect more than 1,500 active and supporting municipalities here. Our newly introduced seal to certify municipalities for the WCD is another strong element to strengthen communication and collaboration between civil society and municipalities in the context of sustainability.

Also, the support of our WCD patrons, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, as well as our EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is a new quality of cross-society cooperation for more responsibility in the context of environmental and climate protection in our Europe.

My team and I, all co-organisers, ambassadors, patrons, cooperation partners, and supporters are looking forward to a great World Cleanup Day 2022 to set a common sign for a clean, healthy and plastic waste free world!

How has Let's Do It! Germany contributed to the success of World Cleanup Day?
